So now you’re here, in your comfortable, spacious Zimbali Suite with your holiday hat on. Congratulations, you’ve made it to the sunny coast where suntans are a dime a dozen! But now what? You’re still a parent and the kids need to be kept occupied. Relax, breathe easy, because I know just the things to do to keep you and your little ones in good spirits.
Here are a few suggestions for fun-filled activities for your family holiday that are in close proximity to Zimbali Suites.
Go To The Beach
Lucky for you, our Zimbali holiday suite rentals are in close proximity to the beach. Just a few minutes walk and you’re there. When you happen to find yourself at the coast, it’s your responsibly to visit the beach at least a hundred times during your stay. It’s the right thing to do. Just picture the scene! Blue ocean waves on a sunny backdrop with a gentle breeze blowing through your hair. Of course this is assuming that you have hair and that it likes to blow in the wind. This is not the case for me unfortunately, but there are many activities on the beach that are all inclusive. Like building sand castles with the kids, sun bathing, or surfing (if you’re into that type of thing). And best of all, ogling the lifeguards, I’m only kidding, don’t do that.
Did I mention that the beach is free? Look at that, we’re already saving money. Nothing better than free entertainment that’s going to keep everyone occupied and happy for hours. Check out the following beaches:
- Zimbali Private Beach
- Thompson’s Bay
- Salt Rock Beach
- Ballito Tidal Pool
Visit Flag Animal Farm
Who doesn’t love animals? They’re a joy, especially to kids. Taking a trip to the Flag Animal Farm should definitely be on your to-do list. Lose yourself to simple farm life as you learn to milk cows and feed animals while surrounded by lush green hills. This great destination is especially suited for children with activities such as pony rides and hand feeding of various farm animals. With spacious playgrounds, the kids can roam around freely with plenty of space to have fun. You won’t have time to spell hunger with the light meal offerings from the Tea Garden. If you’re looking for a more substantial meal, there are picnic and braai facilities available on site. The farm is also pram and wheelchair friendly which makes it a winner for family trips in my books.
Have a bite to eat at Sugar Rush Market
Sweet tooth anyone? Well head on out to the Sugar Rush Market. I mean, the name says it all. Open every Saturday, the Sugar Rush Market in Ballito is the perfect place to fulfill all your candy-filled dreams. With more than 30 stalls to choose from, you’ll have plenty to feast your eyes on. Personally, I’d buy everything. But don’t just take my word for it, go take a look yourself. Besides mouthwatering goodies, the market has other offerings such as homemade goods, handmade crafts and organic produce. Who knows? Maybe this is the place where you’ll find that souvenir to take home with you.
Let’s not forget the kids, with wide open spaces and a great playground, the kids will have plenty of room to release all that sugar induced energy. Did I tell you about the Kiddies Market held on the first Saturday of each month ? Must have slipped my mind…
Educate the kids at Ndlondlo Reptile Park
We’re back to animals again, but these are a bit on the wild side. We are talking about the type of animals that would have you screaming if you found them idling in your living room. Not to worry, there’s enclosures and tour guides to keep you safe as you pretend to be brave at the park. Jokes aside, this trip is sure to be informative as you learn your fill about lizards, pythons, bearded dragons and many more. Give your kids an educational experience they wouldn’t otherwise get at home. If you’ve got any questions, you’ve got a friendly tour guide with a world of knowledge. Go on, give it a try, the look of awe on your kid’s face will make it totally worth it.
